Kendall Turns 1

My baby girl turned 1 year old today.  We had a small party with just Mommy, Daddy, Cole and Grandma, but that didn't mean we didn't have fun or that Kendall got any less spoiled.

Leading up to her first birthday Kendall has gained her first 4 teeth in the past month, and has finally gotten mobile ... scooting around on her bottom.  Everyone but her brother was thrilled.  Suddenly no toy is sacred.  However, Cole still maintains his "I get to play with whatever toy of Kendall's I want but, my stuff is off limits" philosophy ... so I don't quite have complete sympathy for him.  Sharing is going to be a tough lesson for awhile.

Kendall's party didn't really have a theme.  Just some bright pastel decorations.  The cake was a sheep since her stuffed animal Lamby is a favourite.  I found the idea at Disney Family Fun and modified the colours a little bit.  She loved it.  This marks the third birthday in the past month and a half, so I'm done with birthday cakes for awhile.

Kendall is sorta of a rough tough kinda girl but she loves her dresses and pretty shoes.   She especially love her birthday dress and even managed to keep it clean for the day ... even through a spaghetti dinner and all that cake mess.

Happy Birthday Kendall Bear!  It's hard to believe only a few months ago you were so tiny and new.  Mommy loves watching you grow, discover, and accomplish new things everyday.  I'm sure the next year will be just as wonderful!

The Great Conspiracy

Here's the discussion I'm pretty sure my kids have everyday at nap time through the wall joining their bedrooms:

Cole: So Kendall, which one of us is going to stay awake today and  drive  Mommy crazy?

Kendall:  Well, you've skipped your nap the past 4 afternoons, and then yesterday  we  both stayed up, so I guess it should be my turn today.

Cole:  Great because I'm pretty tuckered out after all those tantrums I had this morning.  Thanks for being so considerate.
Kendall:  No problem big brother.  And Mommy and Daddy think we need to work on   sharing!

Cole:  Yeah, grown-ups ... they have so much to learn.  I hope I don't get dumber when I get older!

Kendall:  Maybe if we let Mommy have a rest one afternoon she'd be more collected ...

BOTH:  HA HA HA HA HA .... not a chance!

She's My Baby

This is what I looked like a year ago.  I can't believe my baby will be 1 on Saturday!  Where did the year go?!

Could You ...?

Today my hubby and I exercised our privilege and right to vote.  We then took the kiddos to Home Depot to look at rugs (I know - we live life on the edge!).  On our drive home we crossed paths with a van for a fire extinguisher business ... the driver was smoking a cigarette out the window.  Now, there is no direct link between smoking and needing a fire extinguisher ... but it struck us as kind of funny.

On that line of thought ...

I just can't bring myself to drink a glass of water while relaxing in the bathtub.  Somehow it just seems the wrong thing to do.  I don' t remember my mom telling me not to drink the bathwater but, it must be back there in my subconscious somewhere.  Of course, I wouldn't be drinking the water I was sitting in ... but its sort of like smoking while delivering fire extinguishers ... odd in its own way.
