Week 32: Let The "Holidays" Begin

As of the end of Friday of last week, I am now officially on my maternity leave. Unfortunately, we don't have a computer at home and with the completion of my job, I had to hand over my laptop from work. So if my blog entries seem sporadic at best I apologize. I can still check emails on Dave's computer at work but that won't be very often. I tried to convince Dave to be updating our blog from now on ... but he didn't seem too keen on the idea. Maybe if enough people left comments ... :)

30 Weeks: Baby Bump to Baby Buldge

So far everything continues to go well for me and Baby Brown. I am now well into my 3rd trimester and starting to feel a bit uncomfortable with the considerable extra mass I'm carrying all out front.

Baby Brown's favourite past times include kicking, pushing, squirming, elbowing, and getting the occasional case of the hiccups (he is VERY active). He must also like eating because I have definitely noticed an increase in my appetite ... on Sunday I split a medium pizza with Dave - 50/50! My past times now include more napping, dropping and bumping into things, and frequent absent mindedness.

Hard to believe but I only have 2 more weeks of work before I start my maternity leave. Wow time flies!

Nothing Like a Fresh Coat of Paint ... or 3 or 4

While Mom K. was here over Chrismas we tackled the job of painting the nursery. If any of you know me ... picking a colour is no easy decision. I picked a bright light celery green to match the bedding I had chosen. So of course after a couple of coats of paint and much deliberation the nursery is now blue! The green remained somewhat, in the form of a painted stripe border.


Now that all is said and done I am very happy with it (which makes Dave and my mom happy). They say a picture is worth a thousand words so I'll let them show you the results themselves.


There are still a few final touches like a curtain rod to replace the painters tape I currently have holding up the window valance, a shelf above the change table/dresser and some artwork for above the crib - but the hard work is done. Thanks Mom!

Basement Renovations

Since September we've been working on framing in our unfinished basement in hopes to have enough done to at least have one room mostly finished for family to stay with us when Baby Brown arrives. Presently our place only has 2 bedrooms so our guest room has now become a nursery ... which I have been working on painting over the holidays with the help of Mom Koudys. Though the basement still has a way to go (wiring, drywall, etc.) I'm happy to report that the nursery is almost done. It's been a long process ... but that's a topic for another blog entry accompanied by finished pictures ... coming soon!
